Doka Coffee Tour Experience + Poas Volcano

A great day awaits you: After the last pick up we will start our journey for 1 hour through the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, where we will observe beautiful landscapes with views of the Central Valley of Costa Rica. Upon reaching the Poás Volcano, you will walk a distance of 800 meters (0.5 miles) through the tropical cloud forest until you reach the active crater which has a diameter of 1,320 meters (0.85 miles) and inside it is located the volcanic lagoon which varies its color according to its chemical composition. The tour of the park will end with a walk to the Botos Lagoon (optional) which is an ascent of approximately 20 minutes until reaching an extinct crater which is a lagoon surrounded by forested area. We will start our Coffee Tour where from the seed to the cup, the Doka Estate Coffee tour will teach you everything you need to know about how coffee is grown and prepared. The tour begins at the seedbed, where expert guides will discuss the varieties and growing habits of the coffee plants, as well as the local history and geography of coffee production. The next stop is the processing plant, which is very old and in fact was declared an Architectural Heritage of Humanity in 2003. Here you will be able to observe the process of pulping and fermenting the beans, which prepares them to be peeled and then exported or roasted. in the country. Finally, you will visit the Café Tres Generaciones roastery and learn about the various roasts on offer before ending up in the gift shop with the option to try the eight different blends made at the Doka Estate.
